Lighting Up Nesi Andrews' Home in Houston

We recently did a beautiful lighting project with our friend, designer Nesi Andrews.

Nesi, the Houston-based designer of Chateau Chic, came to visit us while she was in the construction phase of building her new home to pick out some lighting. She has been a long-time admirer of our line and had a clear idea of what she was looking for. This made our job really easy! She brought her plans to Giselle in our New Orleans showroom, and we worked with her to make her vision come to life. 

We love collaborating with designers, and this case was no exception. Although Nesi knew what pieces she wanted to get, she also wanted to customize them to fit perfectly within her home. 

For example, she chose the Beatrice chandelier for her entryway, and we made it larger to fit the scale of the space.

In her living room, she chose the Bonbon chandelier to create a light, French feeling as well as being a focal point to ground a more intimate seating area.

Nesi and her husband both loved our Isabelle chandelier, but wanted something a little bit dressier to compliment the beautiful Gracie Wallpaper in their dining room, so we customized it with extra crystal for her.

While in our showroom, she fell in love with a set of vintage chairs with detailed upholstery. She decided to use them in her dining room and even had two more made and covered the same way to match so that she could have a full set of eight for her spacious dining room.

She also had to have a pair of candelabras that we had made for a special event but look like they were made specially for the space!

 It was such a treat to have Nesi visit our showroom and work with us in person, however since so many of our clients are not located in New Orleans,  we are very good at working with them long distance over the phone and through emails.  

Through emails, our clients may provide plans, specs and photos of the spaces they are working with and we are happy to send drawings, and specs and even mail out finish samples which helps them in the selection process.

Since each piece is made to order, we are able to completely customize their selections!

An Updated Look for Giselle

It is always a fun occasion when we have the opportunity to design a special piece for one of our own. Giselle Armantrout, one of our fabulous designers who works in our Magazine Street showroom, wanted to update the lighting in her breakfast room, so we decided to make something special just for her.

Our beautiful Giselle in the New Orleans showroom, and the chandelier she inspired, now added to our line and appropriately named Giselle.

Giselle had recently updated the color tones in her house, transitioning from warm golden shades to a fresher, cleaner, creamier look.

Giselle has always loved the plaster pieces in our line, and her favorite one was the Plastered Chandelier, which she had used when designing a breakfast room for her friend Kirsten. Since that one was in her good friend's house, we decided to design a piece with a similar feel.

Using this chandelier as our inspiration, we came up with a design that would look great over Giselle's table.

In lightening the look, Giselle painted the walls Benjamin Moore's Papaya in 50% strength. New tailored  cream colored sofas replaced golden-colored slipcovered ones. She also hung new curtains in a light tan fabric.

Although we usually finish our plaster chandeliers in white, they can be painted in any color. In this case, we decided to add just a touch of the wall color to the white paint we normally use, just enough to make the chandelier blend seamlessly with the room.

We surprised her, and had it hung just in time for Mother's Day,  and she was thrilled!

The New Diego Chandelier

We were recently approached by one of our favorite designers about creating a chandelier for a special project she is working on.  Since we are known for both our plaster chandeliers and our custom capabilities, this project seemed like a good fit.

Inspired by the Giacometti chandelier in the Picasso museum in Paris, the designer was looking for something with a modern angularity and also with some organic details.

After getting dimensions and some inspiration pictures from the designer, a sketch was created and approved.

So we got to work on fabrication, and as soon as the frame was created and wired, the plastering began.

The flowers were sculpted and coated with plaster also.

It is always an exciting moment when a chandelier is lit for the first time, and this one is especially nice because since the lighting is within the flowers, the fixture seems to glow from within.

 Since the inspiration came from Diego Giacometti's iconic piece, we named this one the Diego in honor of him.

It has been several years since we created our first plaster piece, and it seems that plaster lighting becomes more popular every day.

We are working on some new designs for plaster pieces right now, and we always welcome the opportunity to collaborate on a new piece.
